Blending raw materials makes it possible to deliberately influence a fabric's wear and care properties, its look and its price. The aim is always to match the properties to the intended use and the customer's wishes.
Proven blends and their strengths
Cotton/elastane: high shape retention, no bagging out over time, a shaping and supporting effect.
Cotton/MicroModal: natural raw materials, pleasantly soft to wear, excellent moisture absorption and release, as easy to care for as cotton.
Cotton/polyamide: often a double-faced fabric with excellent moisture transport, a slightly cotton-like feel yet much softer than pure cotton.
Cotton/viscose: a sheen effect, good value.
Cotton/polyester: low creasing, easy to iron.
Polyester/cotton: good moisture transport, hard-wearing.
Why this matters for your underwear
A look at the label pays off: the blend reveals what a garment can do – whether it shapes and supports, drapes especially softly or is built for durability.
