Satin (Atlas) Weave

The satin (atlas) weave is a weaving technique that requires a rather complex loom. It resembles the twill weave, but the thread float passes over at least four warp threads – and the binding points must not touch each other directly.

Smooth, flowing, refined

A distinction is made between warp and weft satin; a simultaneous satin is not possible. Thanks to the small number of binding points, satin fabrics are smooth and supple, and the fabric has a soft, flowing drape. The sheen of the yarn comes to the fore, giving the fabric a refined look.
